Welcome to the website of St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Belmore. We are a diverse, multicultural and welcoming learning community.
Our school is proud of its emphasis on the development of intellectual, spiritual and moral values in our students.
If you are considering enrolling your child in a Catholic school, this website will give you a good introduction to the St Joseph’s school community. As you navigate within the site, you will find the answers to many of the preliminary questions you may have about our academic programs and student life.
One of the most important decisions you’ll make as a parent, is where to send your child to school. Please contact us to begin the conversation of how St Joseph’s can meet the needs of your family.
History St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Belmore was established by the Sisters of St Joseph in 1921 and is located in the Canterbury Council district in the Inner West region of Sydney. The Josephites cared for the school community until 1985, when the first lay principal was appointed.
Charism Though the Josephite Sisters no longer reside in the community, the school continues to give witness to Mary MacKillop’s vision. It is this vision that drives our school community and is evidenced by our diverse multiculturalism, variety of faith practices and commitment to individualised learning. Currently, the school caters for boys and girls from Kindergarten to Year 6 and includes a high proportion of students with a language background other than English.
Our Parish Priest, Fr Silito, is very supportive of the school community and actively celebrates liturgical and other special events in the life of the school.
The parish and school are committed to building strong relationships and developing a faith-filled community. Sacramental programs for Reconciliation, First Eucharist and Confirmation are are organised together in partnership.
