Our library provides a social space to meet, collaborate, research, learn, share, and relax. The staff work to develop a reading culture and raise the levels of information literacy across the school by leading students through processes which empower them to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers and skillful, efficient and discerning researchers.
The Oliver library management system, together with the ACEN digital library provide 24/7 access to a wealth of authentic, authoritative, age appropriate resources to specifically meet student and staff needs.
Resources include fiction and non-fiction books, ebooks, audiobooks, videos, journals, encyclopaedias, articles, websites, learning objects, CDs and DVDs.
At St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Belmore, we are fortunate to have a library where staff work to develop a reading culture and raise the levels of information literacy across the school. We have a range of fiction, non-fiction and eBooks for the students to borrow and enjoy. Students are welcome to visit the library during lunch time Monday to Friday to enjoy playing a range of games, drawing and reading. Other opportunities to promote the value of reading and literacy include:
- participation in the NSW Premier’s Reading Challenge (PRC)
- National Simultaneous Story time (NSS)
- Book Week activities such as author visits and a book fair
- Scholastic Book Club
